Chris Wolf is a digital strategist with nearly two decades of experience helping mission-driven organisations use the web to create meaningful change. At Made for the World, his work focuses on what a platform is for, who it needs to reach, and what it needs to shift.
Chris’s work is grounded in a simple belief: people with the right skills have a responsibility to use them well. For him, that means treating design as a tool for systemic change, not just making harmful things slightly less harmful.
He began his career at Ofcom, where early debates around the participatory internet were taking shape. He then moved into digital creative studios to learn the craft of web design, before joining SustainAbility, where he worked alongside people building the intellectual foundations of the global sustainability agenda.
That path gave him a clear understanding of why the tools most digital designers rely on don’t always suit organisations built for impact rather than profit. It also convinced him that a different kind of studio was needed. In 2016, he and Lucy set out to build one.
Chris is particularly interested in how digital platforms support coordination and action rather than just visibility, and he pushes early in every project to determine which is actually being built.
Working with Chris starts with clarity. He won’t move forward until the intended impact is defined as a specific, honest account of what should change, for whom, and how you’ll know it has. That rigour shapes every decision that follows.
What you’ll get with Chris…
- Clarity over complexity
- Platforms designed for participation, not passive engagement
- Evidence-led strategy and honest boundaries
- Accessibility and sustainability as non-negotiables
