The Van Leer Foundation is an independent Dutch organisation working globally to foster inclusive societies where all children can flourish. Since 1949, they have been dedicated to supporting young children, caregivers and communities worldwide.
The Early Years Starter Kit is designed to help municipal or national governments and their partners understand the value of investing in their youngest inhabitants and the people who care for them, and to provide actionable ideas and guidance on how to do so. We partnered with the foundation to create an interactive microsite that makes the case for early childhood investment through research, practical tools, and real-world case studies.
The Starter Kit microsite needed to engage decision-makers who may not be familiar with early childhood development’s impact on societies and economies. We structured the site around clear, compelling messaging that links childhood investment to long-term benefits. With concise storytelling, powerful research, and real-world examples, the site presents a compelling case for action.
To ensure the site provided a logical and accessible entry point for governments and partners, we carefully structured the information architecture to support an intuitive user journey that strengthens the call to action for investment in early childhood development. The site is structured around the Foundation’s two flagship programmes—Urban95 and Parents+, allowing users to easily explore relevant case studies, policy recommendations, and implementation strategies, ensuring they can find the most applicable insights tailored to their needs.
The Starter Kit serves as more than just an informational site—it’s a practical resource hub. We designed the microsite to house a library of research reports, ideas for action and best-practice case studies, making it a go-to destination for governments and organisations looking to take action.
The Early Years Starter Kit microsite provides policymakers with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed investments in early childhood—ultimately shaping better futures for young children around the world.
