Innovation Forum is an independent sustainability platform that convenes business leaders to address environmental and social challenges.
With a growing programme of conferences and webinars, a substantial library of analysis and insight, and a developing advisory offer, the website is the primary channel through which the organisation communicates its purpose and convenes its network.
The existing site was functional but increasingly dated and, crucially, light on narrative. It lacked a clear value proposition, did not set out Innovation Forum’s mission and vision, and gave limited weight to advisory services alongside activity-led content.
We partnered with Innovation Forum to build a stronger digital platform for their next decade: one that puts the story back at the centre, gives equal prominence to their offer, and makes it easier for sustainability practitioners to find relevant content, engage with events, and understand how Innovation Forum can help their organisation make sustainability mainstream across their business.
We began with a deep dive into Innovation Forum’s audiences, peer landscape and brand personality. That work culminated in a website strategy that clarified who the site is for, what it needs to help them achieve, and how Innovation Forum should sound and feel online.
This strategic foundation enabled us to place the story into the heart of the experience: articulating the mission (“make sustainability mainstream in business”), the value it creates for practitioners, and the ways Innovation Forum delivers that value. We also rebalanced the site so their stakeholder engagement, research and communications offerings sit alongside the events and editorial content, helping visitors understand the full breadth of Innovation Forum’s impact and how to become more involved in this work.
Innovation Forum’s events programme is central to how the organisation convenes its network, so we built a platform that gives the team the ability to publish and promote conferences independently, while evolving and expanding into new areas over time. Each event microsite includes the capability to build themed multi-day agendas, add speaker line-ups and bios, promote sponsors and sponsorship opportunities as well as manage ticket types, pricing and registration and payment via an integration with Cvent.
This gives Innovation Forum everything they need to launch new events, evolve existing formats, and promote them as the programme grows, all without relying on bespoke builds each time. The result is a platform designed for scale: flexible enough to meet immediate needs, and structured to support their global growth.
Innovation Forum’s analysis and insight spans multiple sectors and formats, and practitioners often arrive with a specific question or a narrow area of interest. We reorganised this wealth of content into six focus areas, creating a clearer editorial experience where a practitioner can quickly orient themselves, see what’s happening in their sector, and follow the threads that matter across articles, briefings, podcasts and webinars.
To support deeper exploration, we introduced stronger search and filtering so readers can move from broad sector themes to highly relevant, specific content. The result is a more scannable, searchable and findable library – designed to become a go-to place for sustainability practitioners who want a reliable view of the most useful activity and insight in their field.
We also refined the visual identity for digital reading – bringing forward the brand’s light blue palette and improving on-screen legibility – while applying low-carbon design principles to reduce emissions per page and deliver fast, efficient performance.
In the first two months after launch, the site saw a 138% increase in engaged sessions per active user and a 19.3% increase in key events as well as recording a 90% drop in per-page CO2 emissions.
